We are heartbroken to inform you that Rick Leverenz passed away early Saturday morning on August 22, 2015. Rick, who turned 56 in June, was having a sleepless Friday night and had gone downstairs to rest where he was found peacefully in the morning.
Rick was a beloved husband of 33 years to Frances, father to Megan and Shelby, father-in-law to George May (Megan’s husband), and grandfather to baby George since April 8th of this year. He was also a brother, uncle, friend and the boss of us all.

To say this has taken us by surprise is an understatement. We wish that we could call each of you personally, and regret that some of you may be hearing this for the first time in this email. The reality is that three quick days in, we have had a lot to sort through both emotionally and logistically.

Many have asked, “what can I do to help?” Frankly, we did not plan for this, so in lieu of flowers, meals, and other kindnesses that have been offered, please consider a donation to the Rick Leverenz Family Fund, which you can find on the bottom of this page.

The contributions to this fund will help offset the costs associated with his cremation, orders of business, and the funeral and celebration of Rick’s life that we hope to share with you.

We also want to highlight that Rick was an organ donor. Given his age and relative good health, as of today he has helped several people by thoughtfully designating this wish.

Rick's Memorial Service was held Monday, August 31st, 2015. There were many more in attendance than expected. It reminded me of how many people we touch along the path of our lives, some positive, some negative, and what a long lasting impression those interactions can have. I'm proud to say that Rick must have made some positive impressions as, there were several of Rick's former employees and co-workers from 20 - 30 years ago that attended his service. Along with our family, Rick's friends, his daughters' friends and their families... so many came to give their respects to Rick and share condolences with his wife Frances and his daughters Megan and Shelby.

In just being himself, Rick probably didn't know how many lives he touched in a very positive way. What a great legacy.

On behalf of myself and our family, I want to thank everyone who attended, who shared and who celebrated my little brother’s life. It means more to us than you may realize. He truly was a blessed man. Thank you. - Scott Leverenz
